I have always been highly nearsighted and have depended on glasses and contact lenses to see since I was a small child. This is partially what sparked my interest in becoming an eye doctor.
About 10 years ago I looked into laser vision correction but was considered a "borderline" candidate with the technology at that time. It would have been nice to get rid of the contacts but I didn't consider it a huge loss since it was normal to me and I saw well with them. I decided to wait.
Since completing the long hours of studying and rigorous clinical rotations of school, I'm happy to have been selected as part of Dr. Schumer's team at ReVision. It has been a tremendous joy to help countless patients through the process of restoring their vision. In the mean-time I also get to see first hand the results of all the newest technologies that we offer. I knew that ICL would be the best option for me and that Jim Schumer was a surgeon with the skill that I could trust. This is no small thing, considering that my career and livelihood depends on being able to detect very fine detail. I have done rotations with many surgeons and can't say that I would let all of them operate on me, either. I believe that Dr. Schumer is, quite frankly, the best around.
The process was very smooth and I didn't even need to miss any time in clinic. I'm about a month out from surgery now and see better than 20/20, just as well as in my contact lenses. I'm 100% free from glasses and contacts!
Now, I'm getting involved in overseas mission work. I no longer have to be concerned about being disabled if my glasses are broken or if sanitary conditions prevent me from using contact lenses. This has truly changed my life in a way that will benefit me and many others. I'm very grateful!
