Laser Cataract Surgery - VICTUS

Victus OhioThe cataract laser technology of tomorrow is here for you today! The science of cataract surgery is getting better all the time. Innovative technology designed to make the procedure more accurate and comfortable is now available. You may qualify for a new surgical method designed to provide you with the full potential of precision laser technology. Plus, new, more advanced options for lenses give you more choices than ever before. Revision LASIK and Cataract Surgery is proud to offer the advanced VICTUS™ laser.

In traditional cataract surgery, your doctor uses a blade and then sound waves, suction, and irrigation to break up and remove the cloudy lens and prepare the eye for the new clear lens. In laser cataract surgery, doctors use a precision laser beam to facilitate removal of the cloudy lens. New laser technology enables precision performance while minimizing the use of sound waves.

The VICTUS™ platform also offers me real-time, three-dimensional imaging of the eye to aid in planning and monitoring the operation. The laser itself has a rapid pulse rate that allows the portion of the cataract and/or LASIK procedure performed on the VICTUS™ to be completed in just a few seconds.

Femtosecond lasers emit optical pulses of extremely short duration in the domain of femtoseconds, as short as one-quadrillionth of a second. These ultra-short pulses do not transfer heat or shock to the material being cut and can make surgical incisions with extreme precision. The technology was developed in the early 1990s at the University of Michigan Engineering Center. The first commercial platform was introduced in 2002 and the original approval was for flap creation during LASIK surgery. Recent platform approvals have been expanded to include additional corneal/therapeutic procedures and cataract applications.
