Time Changes Everything

Typically after the age of 40, your eyes lose the ability to focus on close objects. This is called presbyopia. Thankfully, Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay can be an option for presbyopia correction.

Raindrop® Inlay At ReVision

Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay

Raindrop® is a transparent, micro-inlay placed in one eye just beneath the surface of the cornea. It gently creates a shape change to correct presbyopia and reduce the need for reading glasses.

How Raindrop® Inlays Work

  1. A protective flap is created using a precision computer-guided laser.
  2. The protective flap is lifted to expose the front of your cornea.
  3. The inlay is placed on the center of the pupil.
  4. The flap is returned to its original position and heals on its own.

What to Expect

The actual Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay procedure takes only a few minutes. After the Raindrop® inlay procedure, normal activities can usually be resumed the very next day.

Factors that will determine if you are a Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay candidate include:

  • Your age
  • Your lifestyle
  • The health of your eyes
  • Previous surgeries
  • Corneal thickness

Your Raindrop experience begins with a complimentary consultation at our Columbus or Mansfield, Ohio office. At this visit, you and your Eye Doctor will work together to determine if Raindrop® Near Vision Inlays are right for you.

Based on the results of your evaluation and conversations with your Doctor, a procedure other than Raindrop® may be appropriate. Other presbyopia correction procedures include: LASIK, PRK, or an Advanced Lens Exchange.

Before your procedure, you will have the opportunity to speak with a ReVision Team Member to ask any additional questions and review your post-Raindrop® inlay care. During the procedure, your safety and comfort is our top priority. You will be given drops to numb your eye. You will remain awake, and your Surgeon talk you through the entire process.

We recommend sleeping after your procedure as you will be most comfortable with your eyes closed. Typically, healing from Raindrop® can include blurry vision and slight discomfort in your eye. You may also experience sensitivity to light, redness, and dry or watery eye. A follow-up exam is scheduled the day after your procedure.
