Is LASIK or PRK the Right Solution for You?

LASIK Eye Surgery at ReVision

What is LASIK?

The most common type of laser vision correction is LASIK. This procedure is suitable for a wide range of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. With LASIK, a laser is used to reshape the cornea to adjust your eye’s focusing ability in 4 steps.

How it Works

  1. A protective flap is created using a precision computer-guided laser.
  2. The protective flap is opened to expose the front of your cornea.
  3. A permanent shape change is created by a laser on a cornea.
  4. The flap is returned to its original position and heals on its own.

What to Expect

The entire procedure typically takes a few minutes with actual laser time measured in seconds. After visiting our Columbus or Mansfield office for LASIK, normal activities can usually be resumed the very next day including driving for the first time without glasses or contacts for many Patients.

It's Totally Worth It for the Active Lifestyle I Want to Lead!

Jill, a ReVision LASIK & Cataract Surgery patient, shares what life was like dealing with poor vision and the 'aha moment' that made her realize vision correction was totally worth it for the active lifestyle she wanted to lead.

Factors that will determine if you are a LASIK candidate include:

  • Your age
  • Your lifestyle
  • The health of your eyes
  • Previous surgeries
  • Corneal thickness

Your LASIK experience begins with a complimentary consultation. At this visit, you and your Doctor will work together to determine if LASIK eye treatment is right for you.

Based on the results of your consultation and conversations with your Doctor, a procedure other than LASIK may be appropriate. Other procedures include: PRKAdvanced Lens Replacement, or Implantable Contact Lenses.

After arriving at one of our Mansfield or Columbus LASIK surgery centers, you will have the opportunity to speak with a ReVision Team Member to ask any additional questions and review your post-LASIK care. During the procedure, your safety and comfort is our top priority. You will be given drops to numb your eyes. You will remain awake, and one of our skilled eye surgeons will talk you through the entire process.

We recommend sleeping after your procedure as you will be most comfortable with your eyes closed. Typically, healing from LASIK can include blurry vision and slight discomfort in your eyes. You may also experience sensitivity to light, redness, and dry or watery eyes. A follow-up exam is scheduled the day after your procedure. Most LASIK Patients experience dramatic improvement in vision within one day; vision continues to improve over the few weeks or months.

Could LASIK Change Your Life?

To have a complete consultation, please expect to be at our office in Columbus or Mansfield for two hours. If you wear contact lenses, we ask that you wear glasses prior to your consultation. This ensures that we have the most accurate measurements of your eye in its natural state. Please contact our office to find out more (800) 475-2113.

Please prepare to be at our facility for approximately two hours on your procedure day. You will not be able to drive following your procedure; a friend or family member will be required for transportation home. Prior to your procedure day, you may start using artificial tears to promote optimum results.

Following your procedure, your visual outcome will be closely monitored in a series of follow up visits. You will use a combination of eye drops for maximized healing and comfort. Fluctuation in your vision is typical and will gradually improve within a few weeks.

At ReVision, we invest in advanced technology to ensure both precision measurements and accurate outcomes. We are the only center in Ohio that uses both the True-Vision 3D™ visualization guidance system in combination with the VICTUS™ Femtosecond Laser Platform.

While developments in LASIK technology have led to improved surgical outcomes, your Surgeon's training and experience are still the most important factors in achieving exceptional visual outcomes.

LASIK is an investment in the quality of your life. Your personalized procedure and pricing options are reviewed during your complimentary consultation.
