Is LASIK or PRK the Right Solution for You?

Freedom and simplicity, that's what most patients are looking for when considering LASIK. LASIK is a safe, needle-free procedure that only takes a few minutes to perform. Recovery time is literally overnight and provides patients with comfort and freedom from glasses and contacts.

LASIK Eye Surgery at ReVision

What is LASIK?

The most common type of laser vision correction is LASIK. This procedure is suitable for a wide range of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. With LASIK, a laser is used to reshape the cornea to adjust your eye’s focusing ability in 4 steps.

How it Works

  1. A protective flap is created using a precision computer-guided laser.
  2. The protective flap is opened to expose the front of your cornea.
  3. A permanent shape change is created by a laser on a cornea.
  4. The flap is returned to its original position and heals on its own.

What to Expect

The entire procedure typically takes a few minutes with actual laser time measured in seconds. After visiting our Columbus or Mansfield office for LASIK, normal activities can usually be resumed the very next day including driving for the first time without glasses or contacts for many Patients.

It's Totally Worth It for the Active Lifestyle I Want to Lead!

Jill, a ReVision LASIK & Cataract Surgery patient, shares what life was like dealing with poor vision and the 'aha moment' that made her realize vision correction was totally worth it for the active lifestyle she wanted to lead.

Factors that will determine if you are a LASIK candidate include:

  • Your age
  • Your lifestyle
  • The health of your eyes
  • Previous surgeries
  • Corneal thickness

Your LASIK experience begins with a complimentary consultation. At this visit, you and your Doctor will work together to determine if LASIK eye treatment is right for you.

Based on the results of your consultation and conversations with your Doctor, a procedure other than LASIK may be appropriate. Other procedures include: PRKAdvanced Lens Replacement, or Implantable Contact Lenses.

After arriving at one of our Mansfield or Columbus LASIK surgery centers, you will have the opportunity to speak with a ReVision Team Member to ask any additional questions and review your post-LASIK care. During the procedure, your safety and comfort is our top priority. You will be given drops to numb your eyes. You will remain awake, and one of our skilled eye surgeons will talk you through the entire process.

We recommend sleeping after your procedure as you will be most comfortable with your eyes closed. Typically, healing from LASIK can include blurry vision and slight discomfort in your eyes. You may also experience sensitivity to light, redness, and dry or watery eyes. A follow-up exam is scheduled the day after your procedure. Most LASIK Patients experience dramatic improvement in vision within one day; vision continues to improve over the few weeks or months.

Could LASIK Change Your Life?
