Lasik Cost in Columbus, Oh

Vision correction is an investment in your quality of life. To ensure that everyone can have access to the life-changing vision correction procedures we perform, ReVision accepts a variety of healthcare insurances and offers financing options.

Why Aren’t All Vision Correction Procedures Covered by Insurance?

Most health and vision insurances do not cover the cost of vision correction procedures they consider to be ‘elective’, not medically necessary. LASIK is a procedure that is considered to be elective. A standard cataract procedure is covered by most healthcare insurances and/or Medicare. However, some ‘elective’ upgrades may not be covered, such as premium lenses or laser cataract surgery.

Vision plans often have a small discount with specific stipulations for LASIK through contracted providers. ReVision’s pricing is comparable to the rate on these vision plans.

After having a personal consultation with a ReVision physician to determine which vision correction option is best for you, a Surgery Educator will review your insurance coverage, discuss what portion of your procedure will be covered and answer any questions.

How Much Does LASIK Cost?

At ReVision, we provide each prospective patient with a single, all-inclusive quote for the recommended procedure. This transparent pricing provides reassurance and peace of mind to patients by eliminating the surprise of hidden or a la carte fees.

ReVision's price quote includes pre and post operative care appointments and use of the most advanced laser technology during your procedure. We also extend a Care Commitment Program to achieve the highest level of patient satisfaction.

Are advertisements for ‘low cost’ LASIK procedures true?

LASIK procedures follow two common pricing models; tiered pricing and physician practice pricing. At ReVision, we use Physician Practice Pricing.

  • Tiered Pricing:
    • Typically offered at discount providers
    • Services are provided a la carte
    • Prescription dictates which laser is recommended for use during the procedure. A higher prescription typically results in additional cost
    • Price may vary depending on the method used to create the corneal flap
    • Follow-up care often priced separately

  • Physician Practice Pricing:
    • Quoted one single, all-inclusive rate
    • No hidden fees or surprises

Are Financing Options Available for LASIK?

ReVision offers several financing options through third-party vendors – Care Credit and Alphaeon Credit. Convenient no-interest payment options are available to those who qualify allowing monthly payments to be made over the course of several months. No down payment is required and there is no pre-payment penalty.

You may also take advantage of your Healthcare Savings or Flexible Spending Accounts to reduce the cost of LASIK. Planning ahead and using tax-free money to enjoy the lifelong benefits of clear vision is a great investment.

ReVision’s Patient Educators will discuss the benefits of each option during your consultation. They will also assist you with the financing pre-approval processes. Typically, patients receive a response immediately.

Cost Savings of LASIK vs. Eyeglasses or Contact Lenses

The cost of LASIK can vary based on the specifics of each procedure, but an average is around $2,400 per eye. Contact lenses can cost approximately $250 per year, or more if using special lenses for conditions like astigmatism. With the added cost of a quality contact lens solution, the annual cost rises to around $400.

Vision insurance provider VSP says the average price for basic eyeglasses is $200. Purchasing designer frames, polycarbonate lenses, scratch-resistant coatings and anti-glare upgrades often results in consumers paying much more.

For convenience, many people prefer to have both contacts and glasses. Insurance often only covers one type of lens each year, resulting in an out-of-pocket expense for the other.

Taking expenses into consideration, LASIK could easily begin to pay for itself over time. The best part about LASIK is the visual freedom from glasses and contacts begins immediately. Simply open your eyes and be ready to start your day. You’ll be ready to live in the moment with confidence and independence.
