Giving a New Leash on Life

4 PAWS 2 FEET 1 TEAM; what a great way to describe Pilot Dogs. This PAWsome nonprofit is giving those with visual impairments a new LEASH on life thanks to some very smart and adorable dogs! Pilot Dogs has called Columbus home for several decades and is once again expanding its footprint in the downtown area. Soon the nonprofit will occupy three full blocks with the addition of new buildings and renovations to existing facilities.

Pilot Dogs provides white cane training and companion dogs to those with visual impairments. After successfully completing an application process, students spend several weeks at Pilot Dogs to meet and participate in extensive training with their new dog. This experience is totally free to participants. They do not pay for the dog, training or accommodations. Pilot Dogs even covers the cost of veterinary care and food for the life of the dog. WATCH THIS VIDEO to learn more about how those with visual impairments can enroll in the program.

Volunteers are a vital to the success of Pilot Dogs. In addition to financial support, the nonprofit relies heavily on Co-Pilots to welcome puppies into their home. Over the next several months, these dedicated volunteers help the dogs learn, give lots of love and prepare them to be the eyes for someone with a visual impairment. This is truly a wonderful opportunity for those who love dogs and enjoy helping others. WATCH THIS VIDEO to see what it’s like to be a Co-Pilot.

Our ReVision Gives Back donation will help support ongoing training programs and daily care needs to help these adorable dogs become amazing guides for those with visual impairments. Discover how you can get involved with Pilot Dogs and show your support for this much needed service.
