ReVision LASIK & Cataract Surgery provides a new solution to patients with moderate to high levels of myopia and astigmatism in one easy procedure following FDA approval of STAAR Surgical’s Visian Toric ICL™.

ReVision has successfully used Visian ICL™ lens technology for several years with patients who were not good candidates for LASIK. The new Visian Toric ICL™ lenses take vision correction to the next level by allowing our surgeons to safely treat an even broader spectrum of patients who have higher levels of astigmatism and myopia.

How the Visian Toric ICL™ Works

The Visian Toric ICL™ is an innovative lens placed behind the iris and in front of the eye’s crystalline lens to correct vision while preserving the corneal structure of the eye. This method works with the eye to restore clear and sharp vision while also providing UV protection and excellent night vision.

The Visian Toric ICL™’s implantation eliminates multiple surgical procedures by correcting astigmatism and myopia simultaneously. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes and provides a visual freedom from eyeglasses and contact lenses to a population of patients who were previously limited in surgical vision correction options.

What is Myopia?

Myopia, also called nearsightedness, is the most common cause of impaired vision in people under the age of 40. If you are nearsighted, you typically have difficulty reading road signs and seeing distant objects clearly. Myopia occurs when the eyeball grows too long or the cornea and/or lens is too curved for the length of the eyeball.

What is Astigmatism?

Astigmatism occurs when the cornea is shaped like a football instead of a circle. This irregular shape results in multiple focus points of light occurring on the retina, versus a single light focus that produces clear vision. Astigmatism usually causes vision to be blurred or distorted to some degree at all distances.

Myopia and astigmatism can be treated with a variety of vision correction procedures including LASIK or PRK. However, those procedures are not effective solutions for patients with higher ranges of myopia and astigmatism. For this reason, Visian ICL and Visian Toric ICL technology provide the best vision correction solutions to those patients.
